Pinpoint Test E: A Single Power Window Is Inoperative - LH Rear
NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- E1 CHECK THE LH REAR WINDOW OPERATION FROM THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition ON.
- Attempt to operate the LH rear window from the master window control switch.
Does the LH rear window operate when using the master window control switch?
- Yes : GO to E2 .
- No : GO to E4.
- E2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE LH REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Rear Window Control Switch C701.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C701-3 CPW14 (VT/WH) - Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes : INSTALL a new LH rear window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to E3 .
- E3 CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504.
- Carry out the master window control switch component test.
Refer to OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS COMPONENT TESTING for component testing.
Did the window control switch pass the component test?
- Yes : REPAIR open in circuit CPW14 (VT/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- E4 CHECK THE LH REAR WINDOW OPERATION FROM LH REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Attempt to operate the LH rear window from the LH rear window control switch.
Does the LH rear window operate when using the LH rear window control switch?
- Yes : GO to E5 .
- No : GO to E6.
- E5 CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE LH REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C701-1 CPW18 (GY/VT) C504-6 CPW16 (BU/OG) C701-4 CPW17 (BN/GN) C504-14 CPW15 (YE)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Measure the resistance
between:
- E6 CHECK THE HIGH CURRENT POWER TO THE LH REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Rear Window Control Switch C701.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C701-5 CBP48 (GY/YE) - Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes : GO to E7 .
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- E7 CHECK THE GROUND TO THE LH REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C701-8 GD348 (BK/YE) - Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : GO to E8 .
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- E8 CHECK THE LH REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Carry out the LH rear window control switch component test.
Refer to OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS COMPONENT TESTING for component testing.
Did the LH rear window control switch pass the component test?
- Yes : GO to E9 .
- No : INSTALL a new LH rear window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
- E9 CHECK FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE LH REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND THE WINDOW MOTOR
- Disconnect: LH Rear Window Motor C703.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C701-6 CPW24 (WH/VT) C703-2 CPW24 (WH/VT) C701-7 CPW23 (GY) C703-1 CPW23 (GY)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new LH rear window motor. REFER to WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR - REAR DOOR . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
