Removal and Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Position the steering wheel downward.
  2. Remove the front floor console. Refer to CONSOLE - FRONT, FLOOR .
  3. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  4. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side trim panels.
    • Pull the instrument panel side trim panels outward to release the retaining clips.
  5. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to STEERING COLUMN .
  6. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL .
  7. Remove the 4 Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) screws.
  8. Remove the IPC  .
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  9. Remove the 2 multifunction switch screws.
  10. Remove the multifunction switch.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  11. Disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector through the instrument cluster finish panel opening.

  12. Remove the hood release handle screw and position the handle aside.

    Vehicles with 4.2-inch (107 mm) screen 

  13. Remove the 4 Front Control/Display Interface Module (FCDIM) screws and remove the FCDIM  .
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

  14. Detach the 2 wire harness pin-type retainers located in the FCDIM  opening.

  15. Detach the wire harness pin-type retainer located below the FCDIM  .

  16. Remove the 4 Audio Front Control Module (ACM) screws and remove the ACM.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the antenna cable.

    Vehicles with 8-inch (203 mm) touchscreen 

  17. Remove the 4 FDIM  screws.

  18. Remove the FDIM  .
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  19. Detach the 3 wire harness pin-type retainers located in the FDIM  opening.

  20. Detach the wire harness pin-type retainer located below the FCIM.

  21. Remove the 4 Audio Front Control Module (ACM) screws and remove the ACM.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the antenna cable.

    All vehicles 

  22. Remove the light sensor from the instrument panel upper section.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  23. If equipped, remove the instrument panel speaker. Refer to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - 8-INCH (203MM) TOUCHSCREEN, 7 SPEAKERS or INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - SONY SOUND 8-INCH (203MM) TOUCHSCREEN, 12 SPEAKERS .
  24. Remove the LH and RH front door scuff plate trim panels.
    • Lift the scuff plate trim panels upward to release the retaining clips.
  25. Remove the LH and RH lower cowl trim panels.
    • Pull the lower cowl trim panels rearward to release the retaining clips.
  26. Remove the 2 RH lower instrument panel insulator pushpin retainers.

  27. Remove the RH lower instrument panel insulator.
  28. Remove the 3 glove compartment screws.

  29. Remove the glove compartment assembly.
    • Open and press in the 2 glove compartment door stops.
  30. Remove the 2 passenger air bag-to-cross beam bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  31. Remove the 13 instrument panel upper section screws.
    • Remove one screw from the LH and RH side of the instrument panel.
    • Remove the 5 screws located in the steering column opening trim panel area.
    • Remove the 2 screws located in the IPC  area.
    • Remove the 2 screws located in the lower ACM  area.
    • Remove the 2 screws located in the glove compartment opening.
  32. Slightly pull the RH side of the instrument panel upper section outward to gain access to the passenger side air bag connectors.
  33. Disconnect the 2 passenger air bag connectors.
  34. Depress the retainers and remove the HVAC module from the instrument panel upper section.
  35. If equipped, position aside the Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) antenna bracket from the instrument panel.
    • Release the 2 clips and remove the GPSM  antenna from the instrument panel upper section.
      • To install, make sure that the GPSM  antenna bracket has the metal plate facing downward.
  36. NOTE: To avoid damaging the upper section, the aid of an assistant is required to carry out this step.
    NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the upper section or damage to the components may occur.

    Remove the instrument panel upper section.

  37. NOTE: To avoid damaging the instrument panel, the aid of an assistant is required when positioning the upper section to the vehicle.
    NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are correctly routed when installing the upper section or damage to the components may occur.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

    • Transfer parts as needed.
    • Make sure to align the retaining clips to the adjacent retaining clip holes.
