Normal Operation

The RCM monitors all SRS device connections. If the RCM detects a connection or device connected that is not stored in memory or is not configured for the component, the RCM sets a DTC and sends a message to the IPC to illuminate airbag warning indicator.

When a new RCM is installed, it must be configured. Configuration tells the RCM which SRS components the vehicle should be equipped with. A vehicle may be equipped with the wiring for a specific SRS component, but not equipped with the actual component. If the RCM is configured for certain SRS components not to be present, but detects that those circuits are in use, "incorrect component installed" DTCs may be set. An example of this would be installation of aftermarket accessories on the unused PAD switch circuits in a Crew Cab vehicle.

  • B0020:4A - Left Side Airbag Deployment Control: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0021:4A - Left Curtain Deployment Control: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0028:4A - Right Side Airbag Deployment Control: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0029:4A - Right Curtain Deployment Control: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0050:4A - Driver Seatbelt Sensor: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0090:4A - Left Frontal Restraints Sensor: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0091:4A - Left Side Restraints Sensor 1: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0092:4A - Left Side Restraints Sensor 2: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • B0096:4A - Right Side Restraints Sensor 1: Incorrect Component Installed

  • B1214:4A - Passenger Seatbelt Retractor Pretensioner Deployment Control: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the device but it is not configured for this component.
  • U3000:4A - Control Module: Incorrect Component Installed
 This DTC sets if the RCM detects the incorrect vehicle identification or model year identification from the PCM or ABS module.
