SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION

Condition Possible Sources Actions
The message center is not operating correctly Refer to the PINPOINT TEST GO to PINPOINT TEST AC 
The message center display is blank Refer to the PINPOINT TEST
  • VERIFY the IPC  gauges and indicators are functioning correctly.
The AWD  message is never or always displayed
  • Message center concern
  • AWD  concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY that the DRIVER DOOR AJAR message center warning functions correctly.
    • If the DRIVER DOOR AJAR message center warning does not function correctly, INSTALL a new IPC  .

      Refer to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .

    • If the DRIVER DOOR AJAR message center warning functions correctly, diagnose the AWD  system.

      Refer to: FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEMS .

A brake warning (brake fluid level low, parking brake applied or brake system malfunction) message is never or always on
  • Message center concern
  • Brake warning indication concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
The charging system warning is never or always on
  • Message center concern
  • Charging system indication concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
    • If the driver door ajar message does not function correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AE 
    • If the driver door ajar message functions correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST W  to diagnose the charging system warning indicator.
The compass display is inoperative GPSM  DIAGNOSE the SYNC and navigation (if equipped) system. Refer to the appropriate article for the procedure.
The cruise control message center indicator is never on Refer to the PINPOINT TEST GO to PINPOINT TEST AD 
The digital speedometer is incorrect or never displayed
  • Message center concern
  • Speedometer concern
  • VERIFY the message center displays (trip computer) function correctly.
The door ajar message display is never or always on Refer to the PINPOINT TEST GO to PINPOINT TEST AE 
The engine oil change due message is never on
  • Message center concern
  • The PCM  has not reached the programmed mileage based on the criteria required to display the message.
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
The engine oil change due message is always on The oil life needs reset CARRY OUT the oil life reset procedure.

The engine over-temperature warning is never or always on
  • PCM  concern
  • IPC 
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the door ajar message center warning functions correctly.
An exterior lighting bulb outage message is always on
  • Message center concern
  • Exterior lighting concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
The factory mode message is always displayed Vehicle still in factory mode CARRY OUT the procedure to disable the factory mode and PLACE the vehicle in normal operation mode. Refer to: TRANSPORT AND FACTORY MODE DEACTIVATION .
A hill start assist display is never on Refer to the PINPOINT TEST GO to PINPOINT TEST AF 
The outside air temperature display is inoperative or incorrect Refer to the PINPOINT TEST GO to PINPOINT TEST AG 
The parking aid malfunction message is always on Parking aid system concern Refer to the appropriate article for the procedure.
A passive key status (no key detected, key inside vehicle, key not inside vehicle or place key in keyholder) message is inoperative or always on (passive entry only)
  • Message center concern
  • Passive entry concern
The reverse parking aid, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®)/Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) menu display is not available (parking aid and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®)/Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) cannot be disabled) A MyKey® is in use The system is operating correctly. To display the reverse parking aid menu, an administrator key must be used.
The shift to park display is never on Parking aid system concern GO to PINPOINT TEST AH 
The stability-traction control malfunction warning is never or always on
  • Message center concern
  • Stability-traction control indication concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
    • If the driver door ajar message does not function correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AE 
    • If the driver door ajar message functions correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST Z 
The stability-traction control disabled warning is never on
  • Message center concern
  • Stability-traction control disable indication concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
    • If the driver door ajar message does not function correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AE 
    • If the driver door ajar message functions correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AA 
A steering malfunction message is always on
  • Message center concern
  • EPAS  system concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
    • If the driver door ajar message does not function correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AE 
    • If the driver door ajar message functions correctly, Refer to: POWER STEERING .
A TPMS  malfunction message is never or always on
  • Message center concern
  • TPMS  warning indication concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed.
    • If the driver door ajar message does not function correctly, GO to PINPOINT TEST AE 
    • If the driver door ajar message functions correctly, DIAGNOSE he TPMS  warning indicator.
    GO to PINPOINT TEST AB 
A tire training message (train left front, right front, left rear or right rear tire) message is never on
  • TPMS  warning indicator concern
  • TPMS  sensor training concern
NOTE: These messages only appear during the TPMS  sensor training procedure.
The training complete message is never on TPMS  sensor training incomplete
NOTE: This message only appears during the TPMS  sensor training procedure.
CARRY OUT the TPMS  sensor training. Refer to: TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) SENSOR LOCATION CALIBRATION .
The tires not trained message is always on TPMS  sensor training concern
NOTE: This message only appears during the TPMS  sensor training procedure.
CARRY OUT the TPMS  sensor training. Refer to: TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) SENSOR LOCATION CALIBRATION .
A transmission malfunction display is always on Refer to the PINPOINT TEST GO to PINPOINT TEST AI 
The transport mode message is always on Vehicle still in transport mode CARRY OUT the procedure to disable the transport mode and PLACE the vehicle in normal operation mode.

A vehicle starting/ignition status (press brake to start or switch ignition off press power) message is inoperative or always on (push button start only)

  • Push button start concern
  • OPEN then CLOSE the driver door and VERIFY the driver door ajar message displays correctly with the door open and closed and the vehicle functions in all ignition modes.
