The Ignition-Engine On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. AY1 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Unbuckle the driver safety belt.
    • Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AY2 
    2. No  : INSTALL a new IPC  .

      REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  .

  2. AY2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR INDICATION 
    • Open the driver door.
    • Observe the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar message center warning indicator.

    Does the door ajar warning indicator or door ajar message center warning indicator turn on with the driver door ajar? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AY3 
    2. No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST R  GO to PINPOINT TEST AL 
  3. AY3 CHECK THE PRNDL OPERATION 
    • Shift the transmission range selector through the ranges while observing the PRNDL indication.

    Does the PRNDL indication match the selected transmission range? 

    1. Yes  : GO to AY4 
    2. No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST Z 
  4. AY4 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC  self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    2. No  : DIAGNOSE all GWM  Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

      REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
