The Parking Brake Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. BC1 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Unbuckle the driver safety belt.
    • Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    1. Yes  : GO to BC2 
    2. No  : INSTALL a new IPC  .

      REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  .

  2. BC2 CHECK THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Apply the parking brake.
    • Observe the brake warning indicator.

    Does the brake warning indicator illuminate? 

    1. Yes  : GO to BC3 
    2. No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST O 
  3. BC3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC  self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    2. No  : GO to BC4 
  4. BC4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM  Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    2. No  : DIAGNOSE all BCM  Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

      REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
