Fuel System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The IPC provides a check fuel fill inlet message to warn the driver there is a problem with the fuel fill inlet pipe resulting from a significant evaporative emission leak following vehicle refueling.

On the PHEV, the IPC provides a message to inform the driver the engine needs to run to maintain fuel freshness. On the HEV, the IPC provides a message to inform the driver why the fuel door is locked shut until the fuel evaporative emissions system equalizes pressure. This is to prevent rapid equalization since the fuel system can be under emissions-related vacuum or pressure during operation. The warning provides the reason the fuel door is locked while the fuel system allows the system to gradually equalize.

The IPC receives the check fuel fill inlet message request, the refuel system status display message and the fuel maintenance mode display from the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM receives the check fuel fill inlet message request, the refuel system status display message and the fuel maintenance mode display from the SOBDMC over the HS-CAN1.
