Pinpoint Test As: U0131:00

  1. AS1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes:  GO to AS2
    2. No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. AS2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the network test.

    Does the PSCM pass the network test? 

    1. Yes:  GO to AS3
    2. No:  REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
  3. AS3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the IPC.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    1. Yes:  For DTC U3006:16, GO to Pinpoint Test AM 

      For DTC U3006:17, GO to Pinpoint Test AN 

    2. No:  GO to AS4
  4. AS4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PSCM (POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the PSCM.

    Is DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17 recorded? 

    1. Yes:  REFER to: POWER STEERING .
    2. No:  GO to AS5
  5. AS5 RECHECK THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 
    NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
    • Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U0131:00 still present? 

    1. Yes:  GO to AS6
    2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. AS6 CHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U0131:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Using a scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Is DTC U0131:00 set in the BCM? 

    1. Yes:  INSTALL a new PSCM.

      REFER to: STEERING GEAR .

    2. No:  INSTALL a new IPC.

      REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)  .
