Pinpoint Test Ax: The Engine Temperature Gauge Is Inoperative

  1. AX1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Monitor the odometer, trip odometer, outside air temperature and compass display in the message center.
    • Do the message center displays operate? 
  2. AX2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded IPC DTCs from the self-test.
    • Are any DTCs recorded? 
  3. AX3 CHECK THE ENGINE OVER-TEMPERATURE INDICATOR OPERATION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Monitor the engine over-temperature indicator operation during the bulb prove-out.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Start the engine.
    • Monitor the engine over-temperature indicator operation with the engine running after the bulb prove-out (approximately 3 seconds).
    • Does the engine over-temperature indicator prove-out and operate correctly following the bulb prove-out?
