WARNING:
All safety belt components must be inspected and corrected as part of any collision repair. Inspect all safety belt components as prescribed by Safety Belt Inspection and Repair After a Collision found in SAFETY BELT SYSTEM
. Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the safety belt system and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
- Remove the rear seat backrest. For additional information, REFER to Seat Backrest - Rear .
- Detach the safety belt retractor bezel from the backrest frame wire and remove the bezel.
- Pull where shown in illustration to unsnap the safety belt bezel from the backrest frame wire.
- Push the buttons on the head restraint guide sleeves and remove the head restraint(s).
- Remove the headrest guide sleeves.
- Insert a suitable flat-blade screwdriver along side the head restraint guide sleeve, below the backrest cover and release button.
- Using the screwdriver, release the head restraint guide sleeve locking tab and pry upward to remove.
- Detach the backrest latch bezel from the backrest latch and remove the bezel.
- If equipped, pull outward on the outer edge of the child safety seat tether anchor bezel(s) and remove it from the seat backrest.
- Pull the inboard and outboard backrest cover zippers out of the backrest cover.
- Fully unzip the inboard and outboard backrest cover zippers.
- Detach the backrest cover J-clip.
- If equipped, remove the safety belt retractor.
- Remove the safety belt retractor bolt.
- Route the safety belt and tongue out of the backrest cover.
- Remove the safety belt retractor.
- Remove the backrest latch.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the backrest latch.
- Remove the hinge pin and bolt.
- Separate the hook-and-loop strips, invert the seat backrest cover and remove the hog rings.
- Remove the backrest frame and foam pad as an assembly.
NOTE:
If the locking tab on the head restraint guide sleeve is damaged during removal, a new head restraint guide sleeve must be installed.
NOTE:
Mark the backrest latch alignment prior to removing the backrest latch to assist in installing and aligning the backrest latch.
NOTE:
Use care when separating the backrest trim cover from the hook-and-loop strips, or the hook-and-loop strips can be torn from the backrest foam pad.
