Pinpoint Test C: The Temperature Gauge Is Inoperative
- C1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes
: For DTC U0100:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AT .
For DTC U0140:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AX .
For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart - IPC .
- No : GO to C2.
- C2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes : REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
- No : GO to C3.
- C3 CARRY OUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ACTIVE COMMAND USING A SCAN TOOL
- Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.

NOTE: Make sure to set the scan tool to 0 or full cold before beginning this step.
Select the IPC temperature gauge (ENGCOOLNT) PID.
- Command the temperature gauge on and off while monitoring the gauge.
- Does the temperature gauge start at cold (C), move to full hot (H) and return to cold (C)?
- Yes : REFER to SECTION 3: SYMPTOM CHARTS to diagnose any PCM DTCs.
- No : INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
