Diagnostics in this information assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. Refer to Diagnostic Methods in SERVICE INFORMATION for more information about these practices.

All dimmable illumination (networked and hardwired sources) does not dim or increase brightness	Dimmer switch (integral to the headlamp switch)	VERIFY the operation of the headlamps from the headlamp switch. If the headlamps operate correctly from the headlamp switch, INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING . If the headlamps do not operate correctly from the headlamp switch, REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
The start/stop switch illumination is inoperative or always on (with IA)	Refer to the Diagnostic Routine.	GO to PINPOINT TEST D .
The LH front window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (without window one-touch up)	Window control switch	VERIFY the operation of the power windows from the LH front window control switch. If the power windows operate correctly from the LH front window control switch, INSTALL a new window control switch. REFER to GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS - WITHOUT WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP . If the power windows do not operate correctly from the LH front window control switch, REFER to GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS - WITHOUT WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP .
The RH front, RH rear or LH rear window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (without window one-touch up)	Refer to the Diagnostic Routine	GO to PINPOINT TEST F .
The LH front window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (with window one-touch up)	Window control switch	VERIFY the operation of the power windows from the LH front window control switch. If the power windows operate correctly from the LH front window control switch, INSTALL a new window control switch. REFER to GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS - WITH WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP . If the power windows do not operate correctly from the LH front window control switch, REFER to GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS - WITH WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP .
The RH front, RH rear or LH rear window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (with window one-touch up)	Refer to the Diagnostic Routine	For the RH front, LH rear or RH rear window control switches, GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
One or more non-networked illumination source is inoperative.	Refer to the Diagnostic Routine	GO to PINPOINT TEST A .
One or more non-networked illumination source is always on.	Refer to the Diagnostic Routine	GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
All dimmable non-networked illumination sources are inoperative or always on	BCM	ADDRESS all BCM DTCs. If all non-networked illumination sources are inoperative or always on after all BCM DTCs have been addressed, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
The steering wheel switch illumination is inoperative or always on	Refer to the Diagnostic Routine	GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
The IPC illumination is inoperative or does not dim	IPC	PERFORM a network test. If the scan tool communicates with the IPC, INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES . If the scan tool does not communicate with the IPC, REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
The FCIM illumination is inoperative or does not dim	FCIM	VERIFY that all FCIM controls function correctly. If all the FCIM controls operate correctly, INSTALL a new FCIM. Refer to the appropriate INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM for the procedure. If the FCIM controls do not operate normally, Refer to the appropriate INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM for the procedure.
The FCDIM illumination is inoperative or does not dim	FCDIM	PERFORM a network test. If the scan tool communicates with the FCDIM, INSTALL a new FCDIM. REFER to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - MONOCHROMATIC DISPLAY, 6 SPEAKERS or INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - 4.2-INCH (107MM) SCREEN, 6 SPEAKERS . If the scan tool does not communicate with the FCDIM, REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
The FDIM illumination is inoperative or does not dim	APIM	VERIFY that the audio system can be operated from the FDIM. If the audio system operates correctly from FDIM inputs, INSTALL a new APIM. REFER to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - 8 INCH (203MM) TOUCHSCREEN, 9 SPEAKERS or INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - SONY 8 INCH (203MM) TOUCHSCREEN, 10 SPEAKERS . If the audio system does not operate correctly from FDIM inputs, REFER to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - 8 INCH (203MM) TOUCHSCREEN, 9 SPEAKERS or INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS - SONY 8 INCH (203MM) TOUCHSCREEN, 10 SPEAKERS .
The HVAC module illumination is inoperative or does not dim	HVAC module	PERFORM a network test. If the scan tool communicates with the HVAC module, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - ELECTRONIC MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL (EMTC) or CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - DUAL AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (DATC) . If the scan tool does not communicate with the HVAC module, REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
The CD slot illumination is inoperative (with 8-inch (203 mm) touchscreen only)	Refer to the Diagnostic Routine	GO to PINPOINT TEST E .
