Symptom Chart

Diagnostics in this information assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. Refer to Diagnostic Methods in SERVICE INFORMATION for more information about these practices.

SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • All dimmable illumination (networked and hardwired sources) does not dim or increase brightness
  • Dimmer switch (integral to the headlamp switch)
  • VERIFY the operation of the headlamps from the headlamp switch.
    • If the headlamps operate correctly from the headlamp switch, INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
    • If the headlamps do not operate correctly from the headlamp switch, REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
  • The start/stop switch illumination is inoperative or always on (with IA)
  • Refer to the Diagnostic Routine.
  • The LH front window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (without window one-touch up)
  • Window control switch
  • The RH front, RH rear or LH rear window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (without window one-touch up)
  • Refer to the Diagnostic Routine
  • The LH front window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (with window one-touch up)
  • Window control switch
  • The RH front, RH rear or LH rear window control switch illumination is inoperative or always on (with window one-touch up)
  • Refer to the Diagnostic Routine
  • For the RH front, LH rear or RH rear window control switches, GO to PINPOINT TEST C .
  • One or more non-networked illumination source is inoperative.
  • Refer to the Diagnostic Routine
  • One or more non-networked illumination source is always on.
  • Refer to the Diagnostic Routine
  • All dimmable non-networked illumination sources are inoperative or always on
  • BCM
  • ADDRESS all BCM DTCs. If all non-networked illumination sources are inoperative or always on after all BCM DTCs have been addressed, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
  • The steering wheel switch illumination is inoperative or always on
  • Refer to the Diagnostic Routine
  • The IPC illumination is inoperative or does not dim
  • IPC
  • The FCIM illumination is inoperative or does not dim
  • FCIM
  • VERIFY that all FCIM controls function correctly.
    • If all the FCIM controls operate correctly, INSTALL a new FCIM. Refer to the appropriate INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM for the procedure.
    • If the FCIM controls do not operate normally, Refer to the appropriate INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM for the procedure.
  • The FCDIM illumination is inoperative or does not dim
  • FCDIM
  • The FDIM illumination is inoperative or does not dim
  • APIM
  • The HVAC module illumination is inoperative or does not dim
  • HVAC module
  • The CD slot illumination is inoperative (with 8-inch (203 mm) touchscreen only)
