Pinpoint Test G: A Single Power Window Is Inoperative - RH Rear
NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- G1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Rear Window Control Switch C819.
- Ignition ON.
- Make sure the rear passenger window lock-out switch (located in the master window control switch assembly) is in the UNLOCK position.
- Measure the voltage
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C819-2 RPW09 (BN/WH) - Ground - Are the voltages greater than 11 volts?
- Yes : GO to G2.
- No : REPAIR the circuit.
- G2 CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH NORMALLY CLOSED GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C819-3 CPW23 (GY) - Ground C819-6 CPW24 (WH/VT) - Ground - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : GO to G4.
- No : GO to G3.
- G3 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504C.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C504C-7 CPW18 (GY/VT) C819-6 CPW24 (WH/VT) C504C-6 CPW17 (BN/GN) C819-3 CPW23 (GY) - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH - FRONT .
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
- G4 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW UPWARD AND/OR DOWNWARD OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- To check downward window operation, momentarily connect fused jumper wires:
Lead Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C819-2 RPW09 (BN/WH) C819-7 CPW23 (GY) C819-4 GD145 (BK/BU) C819-1 CPW24 (WH/VT) - To check upward window operation, momentarily connect fused jumper wires:
Lead Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C819-2 RPW09 (BN/WH) C819-1 CPW24 (WH/VT) C819-4 GD145 (BK/BU) C819-7 CPW23 (GY) - Does the RH rear window move up and/or down?
- Yes
: REMOVE the jumper wires. If the RH rear window did not operate from the RH rear window control switch, INSTALL a new RH rear window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH - REAR .
If the RH rear window did not operate from the master window control switch, INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH - FRONT .
- No : REMOVE the jumper wires, GO to G5.
- G5 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Rear Window Motor C803.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C819-1 CPW24 (WH/VT) C803-1 CPW24 (WH/VT) C819-7 CPW23 (GY) C803-2 CPW23 (GY) - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : MAKE SURE there are no mechanical binding conditions preventing the glass mechanism from operating correctly. If a mechanical binding issue is found, REPAIR as necessary. If no mechanical binding condition exists, INSTALL a new RH rear power window motor. REFER to WINDOW REGULATOR - REAR DOOR .
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
