Pinpoint Test F: A Single Power Window Is Inoperative - LH Rear
NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- F1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Rear Window Control Switch C717.
- Ignition ON.
- Make sure the rear passenger window lock-out switch (located in the master window control switch assembly) is in the UNLOCK position.
- Measure the voltage
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C717-2 RPW07 (GY/OG) - Ground - Are the voltages greater than 11 volts?
- Yes : GO to F2.
- No : REPAIR the circuit.
- F2 CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH NORMALLY CLOSED GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C717-3 CPW21 (BN) - Ground C717-6 CPW22 (GN/VT) - Ground - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F4.
- No : GO to F3.
- F3 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504C.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C504C-1 CPW16 (BU/OG) C717-6 CPW22 (GN/VT) C504C-2 CPW15 (YE) C717-3 CPW21 (BN) - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH - FRONT .
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
- F4 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW UPWARD AND/OR DOWNWARD OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- To check downward window operation, momentarily connect fused jumper wires:
Lead Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C717-2 RPW07 (GY/OG) C717-7 CPW21 (BN) C717-4 GD143 (BK/VT) C717-1 CPW22 (GN/VT) - To check upward window operation, momentarily connect fused jumper wires:
Lead Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C717-2 RPW07 (GY/OG) C717-1 CPW22 (GN/VT) C717-4 GD143 (BK/VT) C717-7 CPW21 (BN) - Does the LH rear window move up and/or down?
- Yes : REMOVE the jumper wires. If the LH rear window did not operate from the LH rear window control switch, INSTALL a new LH rear window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH - REAR . If the LH rear window did not operate from the master window control switch, INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH - FRONT .
- No : REMOVE the jumper wires, GO to F5.
- F5 CHECK THE POWER WINDOW CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Rear Window Motor C703.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C717-1 CPW22 (GN/VT) C703-1 CPW22 (GN/VT) C717-7 CPW21 (BN) C703-2 CPW21 (BN) - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : MAKE SURE there are no mechanical binding conditions preventing the glass mechanism from operating correctly. If a mechanical binding issue is found, REPAIR as necessary. If no mechanical binding condition exists, INSTALL a new LH rear power window motor. REFER to WINDOW REGULATOR - REAR DOOR .
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
