Pinpoint Test J: DTC B1451:11, B1451:15, B1453:15
- J1 CHECK THE LTM LATCH FORKBOLT SWITCH INPUTS
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
- Open the liftgate. If necessary, refer to Liftgate Latch Manual Release .
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4174B-16 CPR65 (BU/GN) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) C4174B-5 CPR64 (VT/OG) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) - Record the test results.
- Using a suitable tool, such as a screwdriver, latch the liftgate latch to the secondary latch position (first audible click).
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4174B-16 CPR65 (BU/GN) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) C4174B-5 CPR64 (VT/OG) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) - Record the test results.
- Using a suitable tool, such as a screwdriver, latch the liftgate latch to the primary latch position (second audible click).
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4174B-16 CPR65 (BU/GN) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) C4174B-5 CPR64 (VT/OG) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) - Record the test results.
- Compare the results with the table below.
Circuit Resistance With Liftgate Latch Fully Unlatched Resistance With Liftgate Latch in Secondary Latch Position Resistance With Liftgate Latch in Primary Latch Position (Fully Latched) CPR65 (BU/GN) Less than 5 ohms Less than 5 ohms Greater than 10, 000 ohms CPR64 (VT/OG) Less than 5 ohms Greater than 10, 000 ohms Greater than 10, 000 ohms - Do all of the resistance values agree with the table?
- J2 CHECK THE LTM LATCH FORKBOLT SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Power Liftgate Latch C4339.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4339-8 RPR82 (WH/GN) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) - Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new power liftgate latch. REFER to LIFTGATE LATCH -- POWER .
- No : REPAIR the circuit.
- J3 CHECK THE LTM LATCH FORKBOLT SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Power Liftgate Latch C4339.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4174B-16 CPR65 (BU/GN) - Ground C4174B-5 CPR64 (VT/OG) - Ground - Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to J4.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
- J4 CHECK THE LTM LATCH FORKBOLT SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4339-3 CPR65 (BU/GN) C4174B-16 CPR65 (BU/GN) C4339-2 CPR64 (VT/OG) C4174B-5 CPR64 (VT/OG) - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : GO to J5.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
- Measure the resistance
between:
- J5 CHECK THE LTM LATCH FORKBOLT SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4174B-16 CPR65 (BU/GN) C4174B-5 CPR64 (VT/OG) C4174B-16 CPR65 (BU/GN) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) C4174B-5 CPR64 (VT/OG) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) - Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new power liftgate latch. REFER to LIFTGATE LATCH -- POWER .
- No : REPAIR the circuits in question.
- Measure the resistance
between:
- J6 CHECK THE DETENT AND SECTOR GEAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Power Liftgate Latch C4339.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4174B-4 CPR66 (GY/BU) - Ground C4174B-11 CPR67 (VT) - Ground C4174B-3 CPR68 (YE) - Ground - Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to J7.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
- J7 CHECK THE DETENT AND SECTOR GEAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO THE RETURN CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4174B-4 CPR66 (GY/BU) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) C4174B-11 CPR67 (VT) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) C4174B-3 CPR68 (YE) C4174B-15 RPR82 (WH/GN) - Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to J8.
- No : REPAIR the circuits in question.
- Measure the resistance
between:
- J8 CHECK THE DETENT AND SECTOR GEAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Power Liftgate Latch C4339.
- Measure the resistance
between:
Positive Lead Negative Lead Pin Circuit Pin Circuit C4339-5 CPR66 (GY/BU) C4174B-4 CPR66 (GY/BU) C4339-6 CPR67 (VT) C4174B-11 CPR67 (VT) C4339-7 CPR68 (YE) C4174B-3 CPR68 (YE) - Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new power liftgate latch. REFER to LIFTGATE LATCH -- POWER . TEST the system for normal operation. If the concern is still present, GO to J9.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
- J9 CHECK FOR CORRECT LTM OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all LTM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the LTM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to LIFTGATE/TRUNK MODULE (LTM) .
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
