WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this information, refer to SAFETY WARNINGS in SERVICE INFORMATION . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
  1. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  2. Remove the defroster grille panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  3. Remove overhead console. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  4. If equipped with rain sensing wipers, remove the rain sensor. Refer to WIPERS AND WASHERS .
  5. If not equipped with rain sensing wipers, remove the interior rear view mirror. Refer to REAR VIEW MIRRORS - WITHOUT WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP or REAR VIEW MIRRORS - WITH WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP .
  6. Remove the LH and RH B-pillar trim panels. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  7. NOTE: RH front shown in illustration, all others similar.

  10. NOTE: Make sure not to crease the headliner when lowering and spacing with wood blocks.
    NOTE: Windshield removed for clarity.
    1. Lower the headliner.
    2. Place two blocks of wood spacing it away from the windshield.

      General Equipment: Wood Blocks.

  11. Remove the cowl panel grille. Refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  12. Clean the interior and exterior of the windshield glass surface with glass cleaner.

    Material: Motorcraft® Ultra-Clear Spray Glass Cleaner ZC-23.

  13. Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to specification.

  14. NOTE: Use either a high-ratio electric or battery-operated caulk gun that will apply the urethane adhesive with less effort and a continuous bead.
    NOTE: Make sure there are no gaps in the urethane adhesive bead.

    Apply urethane adhesive over the top of the existing urethane adhesive.

    • Apply the urethane adhesive to the top and sides of the windshield from the interior of the vehicle.
    • Apply the urethane adhesive to the bottom of the windshield from the exterior of the vehicle.
  15. NOTE: The urethane adhesive must cure for a minimum of one hour before testing for air or water leaks.

    After the urethane adhesive has cured, visually check the windshield glass seal for air or water leaks through the urethane adhesive bead and add urethane adhesive as necessary.

  16. If necessary, remove excess urethane adhesive from the exterior surface of the windshield glass.

    Material: Motorcraft® Ultra-Clear Spray Glass Cleaner ZC-23.

  17. NOTE: Make sure not to crease the headliner when removing the wood blocks.
    NOTE: Windshield removed for clarity.
    1. Remove the two blocks of wood spacing it away from the windshield.

      General Equipment: Wood Blocks.

    2. Raise the headliner.

  18. Install the LH and RH B-pillar trim panels. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .

  22. Install the LH and RH B-pillar trim panels. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  23. If equipped with rain sensing wipers, install the rain sensor. Refer to WIPERS AND WASHERS .
  24. If not equipped with rain sensing wipers, install the interior rear view mirror. Refer to REAR VIEW MIRRORS - WITHOUT WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP or REAR VIEW MIRRORS - WITH WINDOW ONE-TOUCH UP .
  25. Install overhead console. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  26. Install the defroster grille panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  27. Install the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
