Pinpoint Test Z: The Mil Is Never Or Always On
- Z1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes
: For DTC U0100:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AT .
For DTC U0140:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AX .
For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart - IPC .
- No : GO to Z2.
- Z2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes : REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
- No : GO to Z3.
- Z3 CARRY OUT THE IPC WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME ACTIVE COMMAND USING A SCAN TOOL
- Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
- Select the IPC MIL (MIL_LAMP) PID.
- Command the MIL on and off while observing the MIL.
- Does the MIL illuminate when selected on and turn off when selected off?
- Yes : If the MIL is never on, the system is operating correctly. If the MIL is always on, REFER to SECTION 3: SYMPTOM CHARTS to diagnose any PCM DTCs.
- No : INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
