Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the instrument panel upper section. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER SECTION .
  2. Remove both front doors. Refer to BODY CLOSURES .
  3. If equipped, remove the plenum heater.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    • To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

  4. Remove the in-vehicle cross beam to plenum bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  5. Remove the 4 bolts and the center instrument panel brace.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  6. NOTE: RH side shown in illustration, LH side similar.

    Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side bolts.

    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  7. NOTE: RH side shown in illustration, LH side similar.

    Disconnect the LH and RH foot well lamp electrical connector.

  8. NOTE: To avoid damaging the in-vehicle cross beam, an assistant is required when carrying out the following steps.
    NOTE: Remove the bolts from one side completely and support the in-vehicle cross beam before removing the bolts from the opposite side.
    NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the in-vehicle cross beam or damage to the components may occur.

    Remove the in-vehicle cross beam from the vehicle.

    • Detach instrument panel wiring harness retainers.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
