Removal and Installation

WARNING: All safety belt components must be inspected and corrected as part of any collision repair. Inspect all safety belt components as prescribed by SAFETY BELT INSPECTION AND REPAIR AFTER A COLLISION  . Failure to follow this instruction may result in incorrect operation of the safety belt system and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
WARNING: Never disassemble or tamper with seat belt deployable components, including pretensioners, load limiters and inflators. Never back probe deployable device electrical connectors. Tampering or back probing may cause an accidental deployment and result in personal injury or death
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Position the front seat forward.
  2. Depower the SRS. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  3. NOTE: Inspect the safety belt retractor and pretensioner D-ring cover for damage. If the D-ring cover does not remain in place, install a new cover.

    Remove the D-ring cover.

  4. Remove the bolt and D-ring.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  5. Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  6. Remove the safety belt retractor and pretensioner anchor nut cover from the seat.
  7. NOTE: Note the position of the safety belt retractor and pretensioner anchor and the anti-rotation pin on the seat for correct installation.

    Remove the nut and safety belt retractor and pretensioner anchor.

    • To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  8. NOTE: Note the position of the safety belt retractor and pretensioner locator T-tab in the B-pillar sheet metal for installation.

    Remove the bolt, disconnect the load limiter (if equipped) and pretensioner electrical connector(s) and remove the safety belt retractor and pretensioner.

    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  9. NOTE: During installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted and the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  10. Repower the SRS. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  11. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. Refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM .
