Normal Operation

If the power liftgate is in the closed position and the conditions are correct, the Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) supplies voltage to the unlatch/cinching motor to unlatch the liftgate from the striker. Once the liftgate is unlatched, it supplies voltage to the motor to open the liftgate. As the liftgate is moving in the open direction, the LTM monitors the position sensor for door speed to detect obstacles.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Mechanical binding
- Power liftgate latch
- Liftgate alignment
