Normal Operation
When the power liftgate moves in the close direction, the Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) monitors the pinch strips and position sensor for obstacle detection. If the LTM detects a pinch strip is active or has a fault it aborts the power close. The LTM sends a voltage reference signal to both pinch strips. When a pinch strip is activated, it switches the voltage reference signal to ground. The right and left pinch strip return signal circuits are spliced together. When testing the pinch strips remember to test dynamically, check resistance with the pinch strip unactuated, actuated and then unactuated again.
The LTM also uses the switch inputs from the power liftgate latch to determine if there is an obstacle. When the LTM determines the liftgate is in secondary latch position it monitors the time it takes to close to primary latch position. If the liftgate does not close to the primary latch position within the specified amount of time, the LTM aborts the power close.
| DTC Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|
A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the LTM detects an open or short to battery in the left pinch strip input circuit. |
A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the LTM detects an open or short to battery in the right pinch strip input circuit. |
A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the LTM detects a short to ground in the left pinch strip input circuit. |
A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the LTM detects a short to ground in the right pinch strip input circuit. |
