Roof Opening Panel Track Cleaning

19.05 mm (0.75 in) Synthetic Brush
38.1 mm (1.5 in) Synthetic Brush
Shop Towels
Water Hose
Air Gun

NOTE: All steps are required on both sides.
  1. NOTE: On the front of the brush, only a slight upward bend is necessary.

    Bend the brush as shown in illustration for adequate cleaning of the rear tracks.

    General Equipment: 19.05 mm (0.75 in) Synthetic Brush.

  2. Bend the brush as shown in illustration for adequate cleaning of the front tracks.

    General Equipment: 38.1 mm (1.5 in) Synthetic Brush.

  3. Place shop towels between the roof and headliner as shown in illustration and cover the interior to protect from debris while cleaning the tracks.

  4. NOTE: Use shop towels as necessary to retain the hose position or damage to the vehicle finish may occur.

    Position a water hose as shown in illustration for rinsing the rear tracks. Turn the water on to very light trickle.

  5. Insert the brush at the front of the rear tracks.

    General Equipment: 19.05 mm (0.75 in) Synthetic Brush.

  6. Slide the brush fully back and forth in the rear tracks 3 times.

  7. With the brush and water hose removed, use shop air with minimal air pressure to blow dry the rear tracks. General Equipment: Air Gun.

  8. Using a cotton tipped swab to apply, lubricate the rear tracks using a small amount of dry graphite lubricant. General Equipment: Cotton Tipped Swab.

  9. Insert the dry brush in the front tracks, and push the brush forward and back 3 times, then vacuum the tracks.

    General Equipment: 19.05 mm (0.75 in) Synthetic Brush.

    General Equipment: Vacuum Cleaner.

  10. Using a shop towel to apply, lubricate the front tracks using a small amount of lubricant.

    General Equipment: Shop Towels.

    Material: PTFE Lubricant XG-8, or Silicone Spray Lubricant XL-6.
