Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes: Removal

All transmission fluid cooler tubes 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .

    Front transmission fluid cooler tubes

  5. Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations.

  7. Special Tool(s): Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Tool 307-569.

    All transmission fluid cooler tubes

    Front transmission fluid cooler tubes 

  15. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. Refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  16. Remove the front transmission fluid cooler tube assembly.

    Rear transmission fluid cooler tubes 

  17. Remove the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .

  23. Inspect the cooler bypass valve to be sure that the transmission fluid cooler tube seals and backing rings were removed with the rear transmission fluid cooler tubes and are not stuck in the cooler bypass valve. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the cooler bypass valve, remove the seals and backing rings.

  27. Inspect the transaxle case to be sure that the rear transmission fluid cooler inlet tube seals and backing rings were removed with the rear transmission fluid cooler inlet tube and are not stuck in the transaxle case. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the transaxle case, remove the seals and backing rings.

Inspect the transaxle case to be sure that the rear transmission fluid cooler outlet tube seals and backing rings were removed with the rear transmission fluid cooler outlet tube and are not stuck in the transaxle case. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the transaxle case, remove the seals and backing rings.
