Normal Operation

The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter in the Intelligent Access (IA) key sends a radio signal to the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) module based on the user selected RKE transmitter button. The TPM module then communicates the command to the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module, and the RFA module carries out the selected action.

Upon a request to lock/unlock the doors the RFA module controls the door lock actuators. Upon a request to open/close the power liftgate, the RFA module sends a network message to the Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). Upon a panic alarm request, the RFA module sends a network message to the Body Control Module (BCM) over the MS-CAN to activate the turn signals and horn.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

Door locks
Horn system
Factory remote start system (if equipped)
Power liftgate system
Turn signal system
IA key
