Removal and Installation

NOTE: Use a steering wheel holding device, such as Hunter® 28-75-1 or equivalent.

Using a suitable holding device, hold the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.

Remove the steering column shaft joint cover.
NOTE: Do not reuse the steering column shaft bolts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column shaft detachment or loss of steering control.

Remove and discard the steering column shaft-to-steering gear extension shaft bolt and remove the steering column shaft.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
NOTE: The steering column shaft dash seal contains four retainer tabs that secure it to the dash panel.

Remove the steering column shaft dash seal.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
