Removal And Installation: Halfshaft: Installation

All Vehicles

Install a new 28 mm (1.102 in) circlip on the stub shaft.

Vehicles equipped with a stamped steel differential cover
NOTE: Make sure the oil seal protector is correctly aligned with the differential oil seal during installation.

Using the Axle Seal Protector, install the halfshaft in the differential.

Remove the seal protector and install the stub shaft in the rear drive unit.
- Make sure the circlip locks in the side gear.
Vehicles equipped with a aluminum differential cover
NOTE: The sharp edges on the stub shaft splines can slice or puncture the oil seal. Use care when inserting the stub shaft into the transmission to avoid oil seal damage

NOTE: No oil seal protector is used on vehicles with an aluminum differential cover during installation.

Install the stub shaft in the rear drive unit.
- Make sure the circlip locks in the side gear.
All vehicles
Position the ABS sensor and install the ABS sensor bolt.
- Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
Install the wheel bearing and wheel hub. For additional information, refer to REAR SUSPENSION .
