Pinpoint Test F: No Power In Acc - Vehicles With A Push Button Start System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Lincoln MKX and 2014 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
- F1 VERIFY OTHER IGNITION MODES
- With the Intelligent Access (IA) key in the vehicle, press the start/stop switch twice without pressing the brake pedal.
Does the vehicle enter RUN mode?
- Yes : GO to F2 .
- No : GO to PINPOINT TEST E .
- F2 CHECK THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY
- Disconnect: Accessory Delay Relay.
- Carry out the appropriate relay component test.
Refer to OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS COMPONENT TESTING .
Does the relay pass the test?
- Yes : GO to F3 .
- No : INSTALL a new accessory delay relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F3 CHECK FOR POWER TO THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY
- Measure the voltage between accessory delay relay cavity 3 and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to F4 .
- No : GO to F5.
- F4 CHECK FOR POWER TO THE RUN/ACC RELAY
- Disconnect: BCM Fuse 10 (10A).
- Measure the voltage between BCM fuse 10 (10A), input side and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to F6.
- No : GO to F5 .
- F5 CHECK THE BCM BATTERY FEED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: BCM C2280G .
- Measure the voltage between BCM C2280G-1 , circuit SDC02 (RD), harness side and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to F6 .
- No : VERIFY the 120A Mega fuse is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit SDC02 (RD). If not OK, REFER to the SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS to identify the possible cause of the circuit short. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F6 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all BCM connectors.
- Check the connectors for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all BCM connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
- Connect: Accessory Delay Relay.
- Connect: BCM Fuse 10 (10A) (if previously disconnected).
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new BCM . REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
