Pinpoint Test D: No Power In Start - Vehicles With An Ignition Switch

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 Lincoln MKX and 2014 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. D1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE BCM AND PCM
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: BCM C2280B  .
    • Disconnect: PCM C175B  .
    • With the ignition switch to the START position, measure the voltage between ground and:
      • BCM C2280B-47  , circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side.
      • PCM C175B-16  , circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side.

Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?

    • Yes  : GO to D2  .
    • No  : REPAIR circuit CDC35 (BU/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. D2 CHECK THE IGNITION START CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250  .
    • Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-7  , circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side and:
      • BCM C2280B-47  , circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side.
      • PCM C175B-16  , circuit CDC35 (BU/WH), harness side.

Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?

    • Yes  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit CDC35 (BU/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
