Push Button Start System Ignition Modes: Notes

The push button start system has 4 ignition modes:
- OFF
- ACC
- RUN
- START
The start/stop switch is used in conjunction with the Intelligent Access (IA) key and brake pedal to achieve the different ignition modes as indicated in the table below. For additional information on the IA key, refer to ANTI THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) .
IGNITION ENTRY CONDITION DESCRIPTION
| Ignition Entry Condition | Desired Ignition Modes | Action |
|---|---|---|
| OFF | ACC | Press the start/stop switch without pressing the brake pedal. |
| OFF | RUN (engine off) | Press the start/stop switch twice without pressing the brake pedal. |
| Any ignition mode | START | Press and hold the brake pedal and then push the start/stop switch. |
| RUN (engine off) | OFF | Press the start/stop switch. On some vehicles, the ignition turns off automatically after 30 minutes. |
| RUN (vehicle in motion) | OFF | Press and hold the start/stop switch for approximately 1 second. On some vehicles, press the start/stop switch 3 times within 2 seconds. |
