Wheel Knuckle: Removal

All vehicles
NOTE:
Suspension fasteners affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure may result in major service expense. If replacement is necessary install new parts with the same part numbers or equivalent part. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten the fasteners to specification during reassembly.
NOTE:
Do not allow the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.
NOTE:
Tighten suspension bushing fasteners with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheels and tires or incorrect clamp load and bushing damage may occur.

All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles
- Using mechanic's wire, support the halfshaft assembly.
All vehicles
- Remove the 3 brake disc shield bolts and remove the brake disc shield.
- Remove the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) sensor bolt and position the ABS sensor aside.
- Remove the parking brake cable bracket bolt and position the parking brake cable aside.
- Using a suitable jackstand, support the lower control arm.
- Remove and discard the shock absorber lower bolt and nut.
- Remove and discard the 2 upper control arm outboard bolts.
- Remove and discard the toe link outboard bolt and nut.
- Remove and discard the 4 wheel knuckle-to-trailing arm bolts and nuts.
- Remove the lower control arm outboard nut.
- Using the Ball Joint Separator, separate the wheel knuckle assembly from the lower control arm and remove the knuckle assembly.
