Removal and Installation

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

Remove the lower cowl panel. FRONT END BODY PANELS .
Remove and discard the 4 shock absorber upper mount nuts.
- To install, tighten the new nuts to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
Remove the brake flexible hose bracket bolt and disconnect the hose from the shock absorber.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
Disconnect the wheel speed sensor harness from the shock absorber bracket.
Remove the shock absorber lower nuts, flag bolts and the shock absorber and spring assembly.
- Discard the nuts and flag bolts.
- To install, tighten the new nuts to 225 Nm (166 lb-ft).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Check and, if necessary, align the front end. Refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
