TCC System

TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH DESCRIPTION

Condition	Possible Sources	Action
TCC does not apply	Solenoid filter blocked to the TCC solenoid	INSTALL a new TCC solenoid. REFER to SOLENOIDS .
	TCC solenoid mechanically stuck OFF	INSTALL a new TCC solenoid. REFER to SOLENOIDS .
	TCC regulator valve stuck OFF	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC regulator valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to MAIN CONTROL VALVE BODY .
	TCC control valve stuck OFF	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the pump assembly for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to TRANSAXLE - OVERHAUL to REMOVE the pump assembly.
	TCC APPLY hydraulic circuit blocked or leaking	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the transmission, main control and pump assembly passages for debris/blockage. REFER to TRANSAXLE - OVERHAUL and MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL and CLEAN as necessary. REFER to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM .
	TCC friction material worn or damaged	INSTALL a new torque converter. REFER to TRANSAXLE .
TCC always applied/stalls vehicle	TCC solenoid mechanically stuck ON	INSTALL a new TCC solenoid. REFER to SOLENOIDS .
	TCC regulator valve stuck ON	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC regulator valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to MAIN CONTROL VALVE BODY .
	TCC control valve stuck ON	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the pump assembly for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to TRANSAXLE - OVERHAUL to REMOVE the pump assembly.
	TCC RELEASE hydraulic circuit blocked or leaking	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the transmission, main control and pump assembly passages for debris/blockage. REFER to TRANSAXLE - OVERHAUL and MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL and CLEAN as necessary. REFER to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM .
	TCC welded or damaged	INSTALL a new torque converter. REFER to TRANSAXLE .
TCC cycles, shudders or chatters	Incorrect Solenoid Body Strategy programmed into TCM	REFER to SOLENOID BODY STRATEGY DOWNLOAD .
	Solenoid filter or seal damaged at TCC solenoid	INSTALL a new TCC solenoid. REFER to SOLENOIDS .
	TCC solenoid mechanically sticking	INSTALL a new TCC solenoid. REFER to SOLENOIDS .
	TCC regulator valve, springs, clips - loose, stuck, binding, missing, misassembled	DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC regulator valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to MAIN CONTROL VALVE BODY .
	TCC control valve, springs, clips - loose, stuck, binding, missing, misassembled	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the pump assembly for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to TRANSAXLE - OVERHAUL to REMOVE the pump assembly.
	TCC RELEASE/TCC APPLY hydraulic circuits blocked or leaking	DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the transmission, main control and pump assembly passages for debris/blockage. REFER to TRANSAXLE - OVERHAUL and MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL and CLEAN as necessary. REFER to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM .
