Pinpoint Test B: Shift Solenoid B

  1. B1 READ AND RECORD ALL DTCS 
    • Connect the scan tool.
    • Read and record all DTCs.

    Were DTCs P0755, P0758, P0976 and/or P0977 set? 

    • Yes  : For DTCs P0755 and P0758, GO to B2  .

      For DTC P0976, GO to  B4.

      For DTC P0977, GO to  B6.

    • No  : GO to SYMPTOM CHART .
  2. B2 CHECK THE SSB CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Transmission Vehicle Harness C168  .
    • Disconnect: PCM C175T  .
    • Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Measure the resistance  between:
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit
      C168-16  CET06 (GN/BN) C175T-43  CET06 (GN/BN)

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    • Yes  : GO to B3  .
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs.
  3. B3 CHECK THE SSB FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the component side resistance  between:
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit

    Is the resistance between 4.0 and 7.2 ohms? 

  4. B4 CHECK THE SSB CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Transmission Vehicle Harness C168  .
    • Disconnect: PCM C175T  .
    • Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Measure the resistance  between:
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit
      C168-16  CET06 (GN/BN) - Ground

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    • Yes  : GO to B5  .
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs.
  5. B5 CHECK THE SSB FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure the component side resistance  between:
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit
      16 - - Ground

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

  6. B6 CHECK THE SSB CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Transmission Vehicle Harness C168  .
    • Disconnect: PCM C175T  .
    • Inspect the connectors for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage  between:
      Positive Lead Negative Lead
      Pin Circuit Pin Circuit
      C168-16  CET06 (GN/BN) - Ground

    Is any voltage present?
