Pinpoint Test AY: U0401:82

AY1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes : GO to AY2
- No : The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
AY2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the PCM pass the network test?
- Yes : GO to AY3
- No : REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
AY3 PERFORM THE RECORDED GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the GWM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to: COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
- No : GO to AY4
AY4 PERFORM THE RECORDED BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
- No : GO to AY5
AY5 PERFORM THE RECORDED PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM module self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to: ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE (PHEV) .
- No : GO to AY6
AY6 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to DTC CHART: IPC .
- No : GO to AY7
AY7 RECHECK THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI), or the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) may not have been carried out.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Repeat the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U0401:82 still present?
- Yes : GO to AY8
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
AY8 CHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U0100:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the continuous memory self-test.
- Retrieve the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) from all modules.
Is DTC U0100:00 set in the BCM ?
- Yes : INSTALL a new GWM . GO to AY9
- No : INSTALL a new IPC .
  REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
AY9 CHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U0401:82 WITH A NEW GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) INSTALLED
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Repeat the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U0401:82 still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new BCM .
  REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
  
  CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REPEAT the IPC self-test. If DTC U0401:82 is still present. INSTALL a new PCM
  
  REFER to: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The GWM corrected the concern.
