Pinpoint Test Ar: The Safety Belt Warning Chime Or The Belt-Minder® Chime Is Inoperative
- AR1 CHECK THE HEADLAMPS ON WARNING CHIME OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Close the LH front door.
- Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMP or PARKING LAMP position.
- Open the driver front door and observe the headlamps on warning chime operation.
- Turn the headlamps/parklamps off.
Does the headlamps on warning chime sound with the headlamps/parking lamps on and the LH front door open and turn off with the headlamps/parking lamps off?
- Yes
: For the Belt-Minder®, GO to AR2
For the safety belt warning chime, GO to AR3
- No
: INSTALL a new IPC
.
REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
- AR2 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Verify the speedometer operates.
Does the speedometer operate?
- Yes : GO to AR3
- No : GO to PINPOINT TEST D
- AR3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to DTC CHART: IPC
- No : GO to AR4
- AR4 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
- No : GO to AR5
- AR5 PERFORM THE RCM (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the RCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
- Yes : REFER to: AIRBAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) .
- No : GO to AR6
- AR6 CHECK THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SAFETY BELT BUCKLE SWITCH
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the RCM driver and front passenger safety belt buckle Parameter Identifications (PIDs) (SBELT_D_ST) and (SBLT_P_ST) while buckling and unbuckling the safety belt.
Do the Parameter Identifications (PIDs) display BUCKLED with the safety belt buckled and UNBUCKLED with the safety belt unbuckled?
- Yes : GO to AR7
- No
: INSTALL a new safety belt buckle.
REFER to: FRONT SAFETY BELT BUCKLE .
- AR7 CHECK THE BELT-MINDER® CONFIGURATION NOTE: Verify that an administrator key is used for this test and not a MyKey® programmed key. When a MyKey® programmed key is used, the Belt-Minder® is automatically turned on and cannot be disabled (if previously disabled by an administrator, the Belt-Minder® remains disabled when an administrator key is used).
- Verify the Belt-Minder® is activated or configured on for the seating position in question.
REFER to: SAFETY BELT MINDER DEACTIVATING/ACTIVATING .
Is the Belt-Minder activated for the seating position in question?
- Yes
: If the Belt-Minder® is always on above 10 km/h (6 mph) with the safety belt unfastened, the system is operating correctly.
If the Belt-Minder® is always on with the safety belt fastened or never on with the safety belt unfastened above 10 km/h (6 mph), INSTALL a new RCM .
REFER to: RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) .
- No
: ACTIVATE the Belt-Minder® for the seating position in question.
REFER to: SAFETY BELT MINDER DEACTIVATING/ACTIVATING .
