Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Ford Pickup, 2012 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2012 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2012 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The TPM module is a radio receiver that collects the tire air pressure data from the TPMS tire pressure sensors. The TPM module passes the tire sensor air pressure data to the BCM, where the BCM applies a predetermined pass/fail criteria.

The BCM compares the information of each tire pressure sensor message against a pressure limit. If the BCM determines that the tire pressure has fallen below the low limit, the BCM communicates this to the IPC on the vehicle communication bus. Refer to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)  in Diagnosis and Testing for TPM module fault diagnosis and repair.
