Pinpoint Test B : U2002:13, U2002:62, U2002:64, U2002:92

NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may cause damage to the connector.
- B1 CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect EPB module C3675 .
- Disconnect parking brake switch C2015 .
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2015-3 Ground C2015-4 Ground C2015-5 Ground C2015-6 Ground C2015-7 Ground C2015-8 Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to B2 No REPAIR the circuit. - B2 CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2015-3 C3675-9 C2015-4 C3675-11 C2015-5 C3675-20 C2015-6 C3675-19 C2015-7 C3675-18 C2015-8 C3675-10
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B3 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- B3 CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
- Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to B4 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- B4 CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGENOTE: Performing this step sets Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the EPB module.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:

Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No GO to B5 - B5 TEST THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION
- Ignition OFF.
- With the parking brake switch in the neutral position (switch not
pulled up or pushed down), measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B6 No INSTALL a new parking brake switch. Refer to: Parking Brake Switch . CARRY OUT the following procedure to restore parking brake switch functionality; CYCLE the ignition from ON to OFF and back to ON, then CYCLE the parking brake switch through all 3 positions: APPLY, NEUTRAL and RELEASE. - B6 TEST THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH IN THE APPLIED POSITION
- With the parking brake switch in the applied position (switch pulled up), measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B7 No INSTALL a new parking brake switch. REFER to: Parking Brake Switch . CARRY OUT the following procedure to restore parking brake switch functionality; CYCLE the ignition from ON to OFF and back to ON, then CYCLE the parking brake switch through all 3 positions: APPLY, NEUTRAL and RELEASE. - With the parking brake switch in the applied position (switch pulled up), measure:
- B7 TEST THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH IN THE RELEASED POSITION
- With the parking brake switch in the released position (switch pushed down), measure:

Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes GO to B8 No INSTALL a new parking brake switch. REFER to: Parking Brake Switch . CARRY OUT the following procedure to restore parking brake switch functionality; CYCLE the ignition from ON to OFF and back to ON, then CYCLE the parking brake switch through all 3 positions: APPLY, NEUTRAL and RELEASE. - With the parking brake switch in the released position (switch pushed down), measure:
- B8 VERIFY ALL WIRING CONNECTIONS
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect EPB module C3675 (if not previously disconnected).
- Disconnect all in-line electrical connectors between the EPB module and the parking brake switch.
- Using a good light source, inspect the EPB module connector, parking brake switch connector and all related in-line connectors for the following:
- corrosion - install new connector or terminal and clean the module pins
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary
Are the connectors free of corrosion, damaged pins, bent pins, pushed-out pins and spread terminals?
Yes GO to B9 No REPAIR the connector or terminals. Refer to Connector Repair Procedures for schematic and connector information. - B9 CHECK FOR CORRECT EPB (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE) MODULE OPERATION
- Connect parking brake switch C2015 . Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Connect all in-line electrical connectors between the EPB module and the parking brake switch. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Connect EPB module C3675 . Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Ignition ON.
- Perform the following steps:
- Place the parking brake switch in the APPLY position.
- Release the parking brake switch to the NEUTRAL position.
- Place the parking brake switch in the RELEASE position.
- Release the parking brake switch to the NEUTRAL position.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the EPB module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the EPB module self-test.
Does DTC U2002:13, U2002:62, U2002:64 or U2002:92 return?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new EPB module. Refer to: Park Brake Control Module (PBM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
