Coolant Pump: Installation

6.2L engine
- Install the coolant pump and the 4 bolts. Tighten the 4 bolts in a criss-cross pattern in 3 stages:
- Stage 1: Finger-tighten the bolts.
- Stage 2: Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
- Stage 3: Tighten an additional 45 degrees.
6.8L engine
- Install the coolant pump and the 4 bolts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
Both engines
- Install the coolant pump pulley and 4 bolts.
- Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
- Tighten the 4 bolts for the coolant pump pulley.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Install the cooling fan. For additional information, refer to Cooling Fan - 6.8L or Cooling Fan Shroud - 6.2L .
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
NOTE:
Align the bolt holes with the bosses prior to insertion of the coolant pump and insert the pump straight into the coolant pump cavity. Do not rotate the coolant pump once installed in the coolant pump cavity or damage to the O-ring seal can occur, causing the coolant pump to leak.
NOTE:
Install a new O-ring seal and lubricate with clean engine coolant.
NOTE:
