WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Ford Pickup, 2012 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2012 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2012 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The LH fender splash shield must be removed to access the fuel pressure control valve. For additional information, refer to
FRONT END BODY PANELS
.
NOTE:
The Charge Air Cooler (CAC) inlet tube must be removed to access the Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor. For additional information, refer to
INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING
.
NOTE:
Lubricate the O-ring seal(s) of the fuel pressure control valve and/or the sealing surface of the FRP sensor with clean engine oil prior to installation.
NOTE:
It is recommended to use a crows foot adapter when torquing the FRP sensor and utilizing the torque wrench adapter formulas, see Fig 1
. Failure to properly torque the FRP sensor correctly can result in a crank no start or run rough scenerio.
NOTE:
Hold the fuel pressure control valve electrical connector in the desired orientation and tighten in 3 stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 60 Nm (44 lb-ft)
- Stage 2: Loosen 90 degrees
- Stage 3: Tighten to 85 Nm (63 lb-ft)
