Removal and Installation

- Drain the powertrain secondary cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the 2 bolts, the low temperature thermostat cover and the low temperature thermostat.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new low temperature thermostat O-ring seal and lubricate it with clean engine coolant.
- Evaluate the cooling system condition. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Condition Evaluation .
NOTE:
Evaluate the cooling system condition before filling the cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can damage the engine or cooling system.
