Front Seat Cushion Cover: Removal

NOTE: Driver seat shown, passenger seat similar.
NOTE: Seat backrest blower motor without snorkel shown, unless otherwise called out.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

All seats 

  1. 1.

    Remove the front seat. Refer to: Front Seat .

  1. 2.

    Remove the side shield screws.

Manual seat 

  1. 3.

    1. 1.

      Remove the clip and the recline handle.

    1. 2.

      If equipped, remove the clip and the lumbar handle.

  1. 4.

    Remove the side shield.

    1. 1.

      Firmly grasp the side shield, lift up and out, separating the side shield from the recliner bracket.

    1. 2.

      From underneath, squeeze the retainers together and pull out on the side shield.

    1. 3.

      Slide the side shield forward.

Power Seat 

  1. 5.

    If equipped, remove the clip and the recline handle.

  1. 6.

    Remove the side shield.

    1. 1.

      Lift up on the rear of the side shield and pull outward.

    1. 2.

      Slide the side shield forward.

    1. 3.

      Disconnect the electrical connector.

All seats 

  1. 7.

    Position the backrest wire harness(es) aside.

    1. 1.

      Release the electrical connector retainer(s) from the seat track.

    1. 2.

      Release the locking tab(s) and disconnect the backrest wire harness electrical connector(s).

  1. 8.

    NOTE: Seat backrest blower motor with snorkel shown.

    1. 1.

      Detach the backrest cover straps.

    1. 2.

      If equipped, route the backrest cover straps through the backrest blower motor snorkel.

    1. 3.

      Position the backrest cover upward.

  1. 9.

    Detach the cushion cover J-clips and position the cushion cover upward.

    If equipped, disconnect the cushion heater mat electrical connector.

  1. 11.

    Release the J-clips and position the front of the seat cushion cover and foam assembly slightly upwards.

    If equipped with a heated seat, detach the cushion heater mat J-clip.

    NOTE: Passenger seat with multi-contour option shown, passenger seat without similar.
    NOTE: When equipped with an OCS service kit, either the seat cushion adjuster (with multi-contour seat) or the OCS (without multi-contour seat) is adhered to the bottom of the seat cushion foam. This requires the cushion cover, foam, seat cushion adjuster (with multi-contour seat) and OCS to be removed as an assembly.

    For passenger seat, lift the cushion foam. If the cushion foam, OCS and, if equipped, the seat cushion adjuster are adhered together, the OCS is a service kit. If nothing is adhered together, the OCS is OE (original equipment).

  1. 14.

    For driver seat or passenger seat without OCS service kit, remove the seat cushion cover and foam as an assembly.

Passenger seat with OCS service kit 

  1. 15.

    Disconnect the OCS sensor.

  1. 16.

    NOTE: Typical OE OCS shown, service kit similar.

    1. 1.

      Remove the OCS sensor bracket screw.

      Torque

      : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    1. 2.

      Remove the OCS pin-type retainers.

  1. 17.

    NOTE: Note the location of the OCS hose as it passes through the seat springs for proper installation.

    Route out the OCS hose, sensor, sensor bracket and cushion heater mat wiring pigtail (if equipped) from between the seat cushion support wires and remove the OCS.

Multi-contour passenger seat with OCS service kit 

  1. 18.

    Detach the backrest cover lower J-clips.

    NOTE: For installation of a backrest blower motor with snorkel, note the routing of the snorkel.

    Detach the hook-and-loop retainer and position the backrest cover strap aside.

    1. 1.

      NOTE: To install, gradually alternate the left and right seat backrest cover zippers to prevent damage to the seat backrest cover.

    Unzip the backrest cover zipper on each side.

    Position the backrest cover up.

    Detach the multi-contour seat cushion hose retainer.

    Release the locking tab and disconnect the hose coupling assembly (orange) from the SCMH.

    Feed the multi-contour seat hose assembly out through the backrest cover opening.

    Disconnect the OCS sensor.

      Remove the multi-contour seat pin-type retainers.

    1. 2.

      Lift the front of the multi-contour seat assembly to access the OCS pin-type retainers.

  1. 26.

    1. 1.

      Remove the OCS sensor bracket screw.

      Torque

      : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    1. 2.

      Remove the OCS pin-type retainers.

    1. 3.

      Lift the OCS up off the seat track assembly and start removal.

  1. 27.

    Route the multi-contour seat hose assembly out from between the seat cushion and backrest.

    NOTE: Note the location of the OCS hose as it passes through the seat cushion support for proper installation.

    Route out the OCS hose, sensor and sensor bracket from between the seat track support wires and remove the seat cushion assembly.

All seats 

  1. 29.

    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Invert the rear portion of the seat cushion cover.

  1. 30.

    NOTE: Use care when separating the seat cushion from the hook-and-arrow or the hook may be torn from the seat cushion foam pad.
    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the seat cushion cover.

    1. 1.

      Invert the seat cushion cover.

    1. 2.

      Release the hook-and-arrows.
