Transmission Support Crossmember: Removal

- 1.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- 2.
- If equipped, remove the bolts.
- Remove the retainers and remove the transmission housing cover.
Torque
: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
- 4.
Remove the LH exhaust heat shield bolt from the transmission crossmember.Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- 5.
Remove the RH exhaust heat shield bolt from the transmission crossmember.Torque
: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- 6.NOTE: Clean the crossmember mounting area with an appropriate cleaner before installing the self-adhesive heat shield.
Remove and discard the self-adhesive heat shield material.
- 7.NOTE: Make sure the transmission jack makes contact on the outer ribs of the transmission fluid pan.
Using a high-lift transmission jack, support the front of the transmission.
Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
- 9.
Remove the transmission mount nuts and the transmission support crossmember.Torque
: 76 lb.ft (103 Nm)
