Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT: Installation

1.

If necessary, remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes backing rings and band seals from the transmission fluid warmer and the cooler bypass valve.

Inspect and lubricate the band seals and backing rings. Install new band seals and backing rings if necessary.

Inspect the transmission fluid cooler O-ring seals. Install new O-ring seals if necessary.

Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes and the studbolt.
Torque

: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

NOTE: 4WD shield shown in illustration, 2WD shield similar.

Install the heat shield and the nut.

Torque

: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket-to-transmission bolt.
Torque

: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

7.

Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket-to-engine nut.
Torque

: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

8.

Connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid warmer and the cooler bypass valve and install the bolts.
Torque

: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

9.

Install the crossmember, the bolts and the nuts.
Torque

: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

NOTE: Vehicles are equipped with either a splash shield or a skid plate.

10.

If equipped, install the splash shield, the pushpins, and the bolts.
Torque

: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.
Torque

12.

If equipped, install the transmission shield, turn the 1/4 turn retainer and install the bolts.

Check and fill the transmission fluid as necessary. REFER to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
