Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 3.5L Duratec (209kW/284PS): Installation

1.

Inspect the transmission fluid cooler O-ring seals. Install new O-ring seals if necessary.

Position the transmission fluid cooler tubes in the vehicle and install a new stud bolt.
Torque

: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

3.

NOTE: 4WD shield shown in illustration, 2WD shield similar.

Position the heat shield and install the nut.

Torque

: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket-to-transmission nut.
Torque

: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

5.

Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes bracket-to-engine nut.
Torque

: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

6.

Connect the transmission fluid cooler tubes quick connect couplings.

7.

Install the transmission fluid cooler tube secondary latches.

NOTE: Vehicles are equipped with either a splash shield or a skid plate.

8.

If equipped, install the splash shield remove the pushpins, the bolts and the splash shield.
Torque

: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

9.

If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.
Torque

: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

10.

If equipped, install the transmission shield, turn the 1/4 turn retainer and install the bolts.
Torque

: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Check and fill the transmission fluid as necessary. REFER to: Transmission Fluid Level Check .
