P016D - EXCESSIVE TIME TO ENTER CLOSED LOOP FUEL PRESSURE CONTROL
| Description: On every engine start with fuel temperature less than 40 °C (104 °F), the powertrain control module (PCM) checks the accuracy of the fuel rail pressure sensor by estimating the amount of effort required by the fuel pressure control valve to maintain pressure for a given fuel rail pressure reading. If the system is unable to successfully learn the effort required over a substantial period of time, this DTC sets. It likely indicates that some element of the fuel system is operating within plausible tolerances, but with too much variation to get a stable reading. | |||
Possible Causes:

| Diagnostic Aids: When in fuel pressure control valve operating mode, the system evaluates the control signal required for the fuel pressure control valve and adjusts it to the expected value. This DTC sets if the new adjustment value is not learned in a given time. | |||
