Removal and Installation

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
- Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
- Remove the block heater.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 41 Nm (30 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new O-ring seal and lubricate it with clean engine coolant.
- Evaluate the cooling system condition. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Condition Evaluation .
NOTE:
The cooling system condition must be evaluated before filling the cooling system. Failure to follow these instructions can damage the engine or cooling system.
