Cooling Module: Removal

All Vehicles 

1. 1.
   
   With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

1. 2.
   
   Drain the cooling system. REFER to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling .

1. 3.
   
   Evacuate the A/C system. REFER to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .

1. 4.
   
   Position aside the coolant tube. Disconnect and position aside the brake booster and the crankcase ventilation tubes. Loosen the clamp and remove the retainers and the air cleaner and outlet pipe assembly.

   Torque:

   Clamp:: 36 lb.in (4.1 Nm)

   Bolt:: 155 lb.in (17.5 Nm)

1. 5.
   
   Remove the air cleaner. REFER to: AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE .

1. 6.
   
   Remove the pin-type retainers and the upper radiator air deflector.

   Remove the retainers and position the degas bottle aside.

   Torque

   : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

   Disconnect the cooling fan motor electrical connectors.

1. 9.
   
   Detach the pin-type retainers that secure the wiring harness to the cooling fan shroud.

   Position the wiring harness aside.

   Remove both headlamp assemblies. REFER to: Headlamp Assembly .

   Remove the radiator grille. REFER to: Radiator Grille .

   Detach the hood latch cable retainer.

   Remove the hood latch assembly. REFER to: Hood Latch .

1. 15.
   
   Remove the RH and LH radiator side air deflector pin-type retainers and the radiator side air deflectors.

   Detach the pin-type retainers that secure the lower radiator shield to the front bumper.

   Detach the battery cable pin-type retainer.

   Disconnect the electrical connectors. Detach the electrical connector and wiring harness retainers. Position the wiring harness between the radiator and the radiator grille support.

   Remove the condenser inlet and outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings.

   Torque:

   1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

   2: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

   Release the clamps and disconnect the upper radiator hose and the radiator-to-degas-bottle hose.

   Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

   Pull the lower radiator hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the lower radiator hose.

Vehicles without an Auxiliary Transmission Cooler 

1. 22.
   
   Release the clamps and disconnect the transmission fluid cooler hoses.

   Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

   Remove the transmission cooler lines support bracket bolt.

   Torque

   : 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

Vehicles with an Auxiliary Transmission Cooler 

1. 24.
   
   Release the clamps and disconnect the transmission fluid cooler hoses. Position the hoses below the lower radiator air deflector.

   Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

   Remove the retainers and the cooling module.

   Torque

   : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
