Valve Cover RH: Installation

NOTE: Installation of new seals is only required if damaged seals were removed.

If removed, using the special tools, install the spark plug tube seals. Use Special Service Tool: 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer., 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle.

If removed, using the special tools, install the VCT oil control solenoid seals. Use Special Service Tool: 205-142 (T80T-4000-J) Installer, Differential Bearing Cone., 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle.

Install a new valve cover gasket.

NOTE: If the valve cover is not installed and the fasteners tightened within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned. To clean the sealing area, use silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

Apply an 8 mm (0.31 in) bead of Motorcraft ® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone to the engine front cover-to-cylinder head joints.

5.

Install the valve cover and tighten the stud bolts.
Torque

: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Make sure the VCT seals in the valve cover are below the top of the VCT oil control solenoid electrical connector or the VCT seal may leak oil.

NOTE: Apply clean engine oil to the CMP sensor O-ring seals.

Install the CMP sensors and bolts.

Material

: Motorcraft ® SAE 5W-30 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-QSP (WSS-M2C946-A)

Torque

: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

- Attach the wiring harness retainers.
- Connect the CMP sensor electrical connectors.

Connect the turbocharger vacuum hose and attach the vacuum hose retainer.

Connect the VCT solenoid electrical connectors and the wire retainers.

Position back the engine wire harness and connect the PCM electrical connector. Connect the electrical connector and the wire retainer.

- Install the PCV tube. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING .
- Position back the vacuum hoses and attach the retainers.

Install the RH ignition coil-on-plugs. Refer to: IGNITION COIL-ON-PLUG .

14.

If equipped, connect the wiring at the valve cover.

Position back the CAC tube bracket and install the nuts.
Torque

: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

- Install the turbocharger outlet tube and connect turbocharger outlet tube into the grommet. Tighten the clamps.
  Torque
  
  : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
- Connect the turbocharger outlet tube hose.

Install the turbocharger inlet tube and connect the turbocharger inlet tube into the grommet. Tighten the clamp at the turbocharger.
Torque

: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

Connect the turbocharger inlet tube hose.

19.

Connect the battery positive cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

20.

Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE .

21.

Install the engine appearance cover.
