Oil Cooler: Removal

1.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

2.

Remove the engine appearance cover.

Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE .

  Disconnect the PCV pressure sensor electrical connector.

  Remove the PCV tube. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING .

5.

Disconnect the quick connect couplings and the turbocharger bypass tube. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING .

6.

Loosen the clamp at the turbocharger. Disconnect the turbocharger inlet tube from the grommet and remove the turbocharger inlet tube.

7.

Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

8.

If equipped, disconnect the block heater cord.

  Using hose locking pliers, clamp the oil cooler coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers

  Using the hose clamp remover, remove the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

NOTE: If metal or foreign material is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose the mechanical concerns refer to ENGINE .

Remove the retainer and the oil cooler.
