Engine Mount LH: Installation

4x2/4x4 

  1. 1.

    Clean the engine mount-to-cylinder block and engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.

  1. 2.

    NOTE: If necessary, the following 4 steps are to install the LH engine mount insulator-to-cylinder block bracket.

    Install the LH engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket and install the new bolts.

    Torque

    : For standard payload package : 46 lb.ft (63 Nm) For heavy duty payload package : 57 lb.ft (77 Nm)

  1. 3.

    Attach the generator wiring harness retainer to the engine block.

    Attach the generator wiring harness to the engine front cover.

    Attach the generator wiring harness to the oil filter adapter.

    NOTE: Replace the nut plate with part number W716699-S439.

    If removed, install a new engine mount-to-frame nut plate.

  1. 7.

    Position the LH engine mount and hand tighten the new engine mount-to-frame bolts.

4x4 

  1. 8.

    NOTE: Use care when positioning the front axle housing or the vacuum lines to the axle solenoid may become disconnected or damaged.

    Using an adjustable stand, raise the front axle carrier into position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  1. 9.

    Install the lower front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque

    : 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  1. 10.

    Install the upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque

    : 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

    Install the axle shaft housing carrier bushing bolt.

    Torque

    : 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

    Remove the adjustable stand. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  1. 13.

    NOTE: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the engine mount-to-frame bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-frame nut plate can occur.

    Torque the LH engine mount-to-frame bolts.

    Torque

    : 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  1. 14.

    Lower the engine to the installed position.

  1. 15.

    NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install a new LH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque

    : 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  1. 16.

    NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install a new RH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque

    : 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

  1. 17.

    NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

    Remove and discard the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts. Install new transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

    Torque

    : 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  1. 18.

    Position the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe and install the new bolts.

    Torque

    : 46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

  1. 19.

    Install the new RH catalytic converter-to-turbocharger nuts.

    Torque

    : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  1. 20.

    Install the new LH catalytic converter-to-turbocharger nuts.

    Torque

    : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  1. 21.

    If equipped, install the front driveshaft. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .

  1. 22.

    If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.

    Torque

    : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  1. 23.

    • If equipped, install the underbody shield and the bolts.

      Torque

      : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • Install the pin-type retainers.

  1. 24.

    • If equipped, install the transmission housing cover and attach the retainer.
    • Install the bolts.

      Torque

      : 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  1. 25.

    Remove the special tools. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-F070 Support Bar, Engine., 303-1246 Engine Spreader Bar.

  1. 26.

    Connect the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connector at the rear lifting bracket.

    Install the following items:

    • Install the turbocharger outlet tube and connect turbocharger outlet tube into the grommet. Tighten the clamps.

      Torque

      : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    • Connect the turbocharger outlet tube hose.

  1. 29.

    Install the turbocharger inlet tube and connect the turbocharger inlet tube into the grommet. Tighten the clamp at the turbocharger.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  1. 30.

    Connect the turbocharger inlet tube hose.

  1. 31.

    Connect the positive battery cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

  1. 32.

    Install the turbocharger outlet tube and connect turbocharger outlet tube into the grommet. Tighten the clamps.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  1. 33.

    If equipped, connect the block heater and wire retainer.

    Install the turbocharger inlet tube and connect the turbocharger inlet tube into the grommet. Tighten the clamp at the turbocharger.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  1. 35.

    Connect the quick connect couplings and the turbocharger bypass tube. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING

      Install the PCV tube. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING .

      Connect the PCV pressure sensor electrical connector.

    Install the CAC-to-TB (throttle body) pipe. Tighten the clamps.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  1. 38.

    Connect the electrical connector and the wire retainer. Connect the quick connect coupling. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING .

    Install the following items:

    Pressurize the fuel system. Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE

    Install the engine appearance cover.

      Position the hood shock and attach.

      Install the clip.

    Position the hood and install the bolts.

    Torque

    : 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  1. 44.

    Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
